Setting Domain to Dedicated Server

I'd get it added ASAP in case you need to change the Secondary host name for ns2.

I've not added the domain to Plesk yet but I'll let you know when I have. I only registered it a short while ago.

That's what mine says too - looks like you've set it up correctly.

PM me your domain name on .net and I'll test it for you if you like ;-)

In the OVH Manager under domains I've got the following message. Is this normal or have I missed out a step?

Your domain name domainname.co.uk is set up to 'ksXXXXX.kimsufi.com, ns.kimsufi.com'. Your hosting dns is active on 'dns11.ovh.net, ns11.ovh.net'. Only if you want to use this hosting, set up domain name to 'dns11.ovh.net, ns11.ovh.net'.

I did this, so was the primary meant tob e eg ks3284723.kimisufi.com ?
When going back onto the domain i now get:
"Your domain name sparkx.co.uk is set up to 'ks*******.kimsufi.com, ns.kimsufi.com'. Your hosting dns is active on 'dns11.ovh.net, ns11.ovh.net'. Only if you want to use this hosting, set up domain name to 'dns11.ovh.net, ns11.ovh.net'."

Are you using Plesk? If so can you not change the NS for your domain and then add the domain through the control panel?

First, make sure you've added your free domain to Plesk.

Domain name > Hostings > domain.co.uk > Domain & DNS > DNS Servers > Modify

Primary: your server name
Secondary: ns.kimsufi.com

Accept

Dedicated server > Server name > Services > Secondary DNS > New domain
type your domain in the box, select your server's IP, copy the Secondary host name and click accept.

Domain name > Hostings > domain.co.uk > Domain & DNS > DNS Servers > Modify

Primary: your server name
Secondary: paste Secondary host name from above

i can't seem to be able to change the A record to point to my box's ip, how would changing the NS help?

I don't think you can change that. Why not just change the NS for your .co.uk domain so that it resolves to your servers IP address? Then you wouldn't need to use the kimsufi.com domain to access your site.

I believe he is having the same problems as me - he wants the free domain to be the host of the dedicated server, i.e changing ks32XXX.kimsufi.com to the domain.

Have you changed the DNS for the domain to point to your kimsufi?

If so, you can then control your domain from Plesk.

hehe both words make sense.

still having problems with the OVH Manager changing the domain settings, all the items are locked. Is this particular to the most basic domain package from ovh.co.uk? (the one I chose)

with Plesk distribution you have 1 domain, but we propose for free
30 domain licence with every dedicated server.

I thought you couldn't have Windows with Plesk?

For some random reason, all these admin panels have restrictions. CPanel needs a license key, and Plesk will only let me have 1 domain / 1 client.
I will contact the admins on this problem.
Cheers

In packages I have had before, it was as simple as going to the domain options and changing the IP it was 'directed' to. I will investigate Plesk though, thanks.

I can use the Manager to access settings on both the dedicated server and domain, but it is not immediately obvious how to link the domain to the dedicated server. Has anyone had any luck with this?

Update: I think i've found the button in the ovh Manager but it tells me This option is not active / available in your service.
