It'll protect you from brute force attacks, it's definitely not wise to remove it if you don't have other security systems in place to block those sort of attacks. If you're not experienced in managing your server, it'd definitely be a good idea to get server management for the first month and just have them secure and optimize your server, cPanel VPS management isn't that expensive, especially if you just have them for the first month.

Thank you, i did not know that, very helpful. Good idea for OVH to include such advice in their welcome email (sent after server installation). Thanks a lot, this is very useful. Re-installing server at the moment, as soon as it's ready, i will try it, thanks!!

thank you for advice, but can i legally do it (remove message myself)? i think it's on ovh side.

as for login problem (still unable to access whm panel as user 'root', cpnales with account logins assigned), i think the fastest is to re-install, if the problem reappers - will be cancelling everything tonight.

Personally I'd just install CentOS 6 and then manually install cPanel, it'll be a lot cleaner.

Run this command via SSH to get rid of the trial message: /usr/local/cpanel/cpkeyclt

Trying to figure out what's happening, thought it was cPHulk Brute causing troubles, went inside of OVH control panel and launched KVM, this is what I see inside. Can it cause the issue?

Going to reboot it now to see what will be happening

No, rebooting did not work, the warning has not gone.

Thinking about reinstalling server. Did some job, it will be lost, however, this looks like the right solution. Does anyone know, will I get any issues with linking unlimited cPanel licenses to the server? That re-installation can be full of unexpected surprises :-) Not certain, shall I proceed or not :-)

I have just checked (curious), nothing to do with the firewall, it was off, I switched it back on ::-) Thanks for the reminder :-) No access to the post, ftp and panels for 1,5 hrs I think. How do I plan my work? :-)

thanks, but this does not look like firewall as i am loosing access to everything, and it returns back with no action from my side, i think it's something on ovh side, i will wait for their response to move forward.

as for the cpanel, yes, i understand, it's not free, that's why i was charged double price (eight fifty for vps plus eight fifty for cpanel), but this cpanel what i have installed by ovh is clearly free, it's a trial version, and i would like this trial message (which appears on every cpanel page) removed, i got an email from ovh with my license number, but have no idea how to activate it and get rid of 'trial' notice forever.

That sounds like you're being blocked by a firewall, personally I don't use templates and simply select CentOS as the install, then install cPanel myself, templates usually have too much crap installed that I don't want or need, and, for the few commands it takes to install cPanel, it's not worth using the template.

But yes, OVH don't give you a free cPanel license, you'll have to purchase it.

Update. It worked a bit, after I posted this message regarding FTP, email, account access authorisation issues. Everything worked for a few minutes (I thought, it's a matter of time, so just waited), but now stopped again, no FTP access, no mails, no access to cPanel (wrong login). Why is this happening?

Just happened: i was inside of my WHM panel, trying to set up ftp access, was prompted to enter root password again, entered, login failed, was kicked off my CP. Also cannot access ftp with the password / user created, cannot use mail (error messages say server denies access). passwords/ login names correct. I think i have to wait as something is wrong on your side. Does this frequently happen?

This is also to ask how to buy addons, like IPs, etc. When looking in 'upgrade' section of my OVH control panel, I see no addon options, just regular upgrade variants of my package. Shall I contact support in case of buying any extras? Please advise.

That's what I see in my control panel. Is this really a trial and I will be paying extra in addition to current £8,50 for VPS alone + £8.50 for unlimited cPanel licence + tax = £20.40 a month? Product description says nothing about 'trials' for twenty quid per month.

This is also to request a faster processing of refund (VPS Classic package was bought in error). I've submitted cancellation request yesterday. Thanks in advance.
