Hi,
Yesterday the Fedora Project announced the availability of Fedora 22. You can now get it on reinstallation on all OVH, So you Start and Kimsufi dedicated servers. As part of the Fedora.next initiative, this distribution is available in three editions. We offer the Server edition (the other two are Cloud and Workstation).
Some new features:
- "dnf" replaces "yum" (the syntax is the same)
- XFS replaces ext4 as the default system file
- improvements to ****pit (not pre-installed) for easily managing Docker containers
You can update a current version of Fedora with the FedUp tool:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FedUp
You can choose between the following kernels on reinstallation:
- 3.14.32 GRS OVH (kernel automatically installed on the disk)
- 4.0.4 Fedora (can be installed on the disk on reinstallation)
Moreover, very soon the Testing and Experimental kernels we offer on our FTP server (ftp://ftp.ovh.net/made-in-ovh/bzImage/) will also be available on netboot. These are currently the following versions:
- Testing: 3.14.43 in GRS and vanilla
- Experimental: 4.0.4 in GRS and vanilla
Fedora 22 is available for dedicated servers as a basic distribution, and is currently in beta.
Don't hesitate to write any comments here.
Best,
Felix
