vCore means virtual core yes, processors generally consist of physical cores and virtual cores (threads) so a 6 core processor will generally have 12 threads, meaning each physical core can do two processes at any one time, these are known as virtual cores, the system sees each virtual core as a real core when really it isn't. So your VPS will be assigned one virtual core, which generally will perform just as good as one physical core.
