We were not even given notice or warning of the change either.. Microsoft do infact still offer free trials off windows server 2003 pro on there website:

So offering the free trial for 2 months and THEN demanding payment for the license is much more understandable.. To be hounest the amount of customers that OVH has and the amount of people using windows server you would think gates would want OVH to have the free trials to promote there operating system thus making them more sales in licenses at the end of the 2 months.

So im guessing the 2 month free trial is no longer valid now?.. I think OVH should have implemented a feature to use your own license VIA Control panel before charging people for the license..

What are the options for people who own a legit version of Windows server 2003 Professional R2 License key?.. Why should we have to pay extra for something we already own it makes no sense.

Put in a ticket or email them to add Win 2003 Web Server to your manager for your specific Server. Once they do, you can do a re-install with it.

Be sure that you do, since OVH give only one warning before disconnecting your server and ending your contract, with no refund.

Why aren't Windows 2003 Web Edition available via the Manager in the first place? I had the same problem and had to wait while it was added manually to my Manager to re-install with Win2003 Web Edition...since I'm paying for it from the 1st DAY onwards, I want it available to me at all times.

For the moment if you need Windows and the option is not available in the Manager; you'll need to email support so we can arrange it for you.

Kimsufi 8XL & Windows: we are fixing the problem.
Storage & Windows: we are fixing the problem too.

As I said (when I announced), the servers are stables but it's
very new plateforme and the software & the services need a while
to be debugged. We are working on it.

Its just as i said i have a server sitting there for 5 days now witch i cant add and a irrate customer.
I hope it gets fixed really soon and maybe the due date alligned for when its fixed.

I will just say one thing, the poorest part of OVH support is the response time. Its worse than poor to say the least. 24 hours for a single response is not right. Previous data centers I have used had support reply times of around 10-20 minutes, thats what I would expect from OVH! Support staff should work with a few support requests at a time, rather than just going around picking one, replying, then moving on and never replying to it again or for a long time.

you are talking about the "bugs". the "bugs" are very high level
problem since it's our dev/admin team which work on. when we
prepare a very new server, we know that there is some bugs that
we have to fix.

but you are right saying there is no information about "ovh
knows that there is this bug" and "ovh is working on it". I
will ask to add all distributions bugs in

Just remember, real server admins don't sleep! I know I don't when I have issues with my server thats for sure.

So, listen up OVH...!
- 24/7/365 support staff please (including on the phone)!
- More response on support tickets!
- More staff at least looking on the forums!

Do this and you will be the best provider around for sure Support is the only thing letting you down.

And yes its ok saying phone them witch i normally do but hell what is the surport ticket surposed to be for.

Looks like you can no longer get free Win Server 2003 Std for 2 months as we have been able to for the past 6 months (as long as I've been using OVH).

We now have to pay for the licenses from the get-go.

Still no option for own licenses - I have an MSDN subscription

Nope - and still no reply from the support incident ticket I opened.

I have a server sitting here useless.

It's a shame OVH tech support is so useless. The servers and bandwidth are usually quite good - but if something goes wrong, then you're screwed What do you want to bet they won't even compensate for the downtime... like the 3 servers I've had which have been unusable due to NIC hardware failure - no help from OVH.
