You could upgrade it by hand, but it may involve a fair amount of work.
If you don't mind reinstalling, i think it might be the easiest way - as of now
the vmware image contains vmware server 1.0.8 with linux kernel 2.6.28.1.

You will need the C header files during the upgrade - on my system i got them by doing the following:
cd /usr/src/
tar -xjvf linux-2.6.24.7-ovh.tbz
cd /usr/src/linux-2.6.24.7-ovh
cp /boot/config-2.6.24.7-xxxx-VMware-ipv4-32 .config
make

Depending on where OVH did install the VMware server, you won't lose any settings.
A remove is also not required.
Everything is taken care of the installation script.

You will need to remove the old version before installing the new version. You can import your virtual machines but some settings will be lost.

hey guys,
after failing to install vmware server myself on a fresh centos and ubuntu box (i hate ovh's custom kernel), i went with a rebuild that included vmware server 1.06.
thats kind of outdated now... how do i upgrade? do i simply download the new files and install, will it update or overwrite - will i lose my settings?
thanks!
