if he only used chmod without -R, then this should be easy, otherwise .....

If you set 755 on / you may have to re-permission every folder or re-install the server.

I did a chown -R / a while back on a box and had to re-build.

If you cannot get in via putty any more then you will need to recompile it in Rescue Mode, http://help.ovh.co.uk/RescueMode#link4

What the server address? I will check just to make sure it is okay.

Remove and recompile it. Plenty of documentation around.

I also cant seem to be able to login through putty anymore :/
Is there a way to reset permissions?

When I try to acces 'mysql' in the command prompt I get ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)

Ok, I have just done something really stupid.
I was having a problem with my sql just after I had changed the permission of a folder.
And I first though, oh maybe it's because I changed the permission to the wrong file.

So I set permission of '/' as in the root folder to 755 and I now get
'Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, etc ..'
What permission is the default?
Thanks in advance
