Possibly the 12 month contract for the 3rd server is because of this....

Imagine a customer wanted to purchase 5 servers for 1 month, then after this one month after using the resources they decided they no longer needed them and moved to another provider.

This would have meant that OVH would have invested in 5 new servers and now these servers would be "dormant". The 12 months contract for the 3rd server is kind of like a guarantee for OVH of a serious customer.

Other major companies may possibly not do that, however they may also be losing money this way (but they don't say anything).

what if customers want to order 5+ servers in one go, By not doing that they are loosing custom and money. They shouldnt put a limit on how many servers you can buy.

OVh is for people who want one server. They aim to sell one server per person, no more.. And they would have stock problems without this limit, because of those who take full servers and don't renew them. If you want more, you have to invest you for 1 year and it shouldn't pose problem for serious professionnals..

Indeed but what about people who just want 3 or 4 who are not buissness men.

I mean i would like to take 4-5 servers but cant afford the 12 month pre payment.
So what do they have to loose by renting 5 per month?
They always have stock.
So imo are they not loosing out on $$?

03/06 : +1 new server for 1 month
