You've been told to contact customer support to discuss the matter in private, which I think is fair enough. (In the previous thread, might I add.)
If you have been using your server for naughty/illegal things I would be almost certain that these things are listed in the Terms of Service as unacceptable so are grounds to cancel your contract without refund.

Anyway, you had best contact customer support and get the details to login so that you can copy off your data before the server is wiped and returned to the pool for other customers.

If it's hacked/a virus, I'd be surprised if they wouldn't let you wipe it and reinstall the OS if you're ok with that... :S

I have to agree that its not a good idea to be running a windows box without any anti-virus software...

But if OVH did see this occurring over a number of days and didn't send you any alerts, the 24 minute window does seem pretty pathetic.

Sorry mate, not much sympathy here. If you have been using your server for naughty things and have got caught, thats your problem.

If you have got a virus on it then thats also your problem.

People who cannot protect themselves from virus shouldn't be running dedicated servers.

On another note, I'm well pleased, I joined in October 2008 too, that means I'm a long standing customer of OVH too

Following on from this thread, which was closed prematurely.

OVH have effectively told me to go forth and multiply on the subject, no help what-so-ever.

Fair enough, if a server gets a virus and starts "scanning" other servers, it needs to be stopped. That doesn't mean it has to be completely shut down with access completely taken away from the person renting the server.

At the very most it required a wipe and re-install... people should be given more than 24 minutes at a time they're usually in bed to correct a problem which has only just been brought to their attention!

But no, apparently OVH just remove your access to a server which is less than half way through its subscription period and that's that.

What a pathetic way of saying 'We can't be bothered to help our long-standing clients'.

Oh - and of course, my request for a partial refund for the time remaining was denied. Time to get the chargeback system rolling!

I'm sure this post will get removed, despite sticking within the forum guidelines.
