A big week for the network

Hello,
This week we finish a lot of work on the network.

Thus, in order:
- The link Brussels / Frankfurt is being completed (yes!).
2 teams have started this morning and will work non-stop this week
for the operational link on Wednesday. There are many moving
(500km) to place the equipment of optical signal amplification, and then
we must start it, configure and test for 24 hours.
The goal is to have a network BRU / FRA capable of carrying 40x10Gbps
bandwidth. To start, we will implement a DLM 100G
with 4 ports of 10G (then the upgrade to 6x10Gbps in 1 month). Wednesday night?
But why Wednesday?
- We already have the network between Roubaix / Amsterdam 40x10G up.
Currently we operate 4x10G and add the new ports
for 10x10G (then the upgrade to 12x10G in 2 weeks, add
a new card DLM 10x10G, we'll do it at startup
VSS-2-6k, 2 weeks).
- Thanks to these 2 projects, we can connect directly
the new 10G Amsterdam and Frankfurt on the router vss-1-6k
and rbx-1-6k, rbx-2-6k. Instead of connecting to other routers
routers, then connect the router to router, it was
simple with minimum indirect connection. As direct. As against
we must carry it. Hence the network.
Also, we will resume the link 4x 10G transit (Teleglobe and GBLX) to
Amsterdam to carry and connect to the VSS-1-6k and
future vss-2-6k.
- It increases the capacity of the peering points and AMSIX Decix
2x (2x10G to 2x2x10G). Basically, we currently have and 2x20Gbps
we 2x40Gbps. Ça va faire du bien!
- Wednesday (or Thursday, depending on the work network), it launches a missile
on the Netherlands, alias starts on the subsidiary NL. The aim is to propose
our services in the Netherlands (and a little "North Belgium). Do
worry, we will not destroy anything, just standing out ...
baby buzz buzz, splash plop
- In 10 days, it starts work on the Roubaix / London
to 40x10G. The goal is to do the same thing we've done
Paris and Amsterdam and Frankfurt we do: connect the
maximum of 10G and carry it all live to our routers
City-Roubaix. Pareil, 4x10G in transit to our routers.
At this time we should pass a small half-tera of connections between
Internet and Ovh.
- A 2nd link 10G Amsterdam / Warsaw is in preparation and a 2nd link
on PL-IX in Warsaw in the crowd.
- For against, we must configure the router vss-1-6k to add
all these links 10G. And we still have the famous bug that IOS
we crash half the vss dice that affects the configuration
http://travaux.ovh.com/?do=details&id=2747
That night around 5am, we will configure the vss-1-6k
and therefore it will probably crash again (the probability is
100%). This will cause a small cut and then 5 seconds
we will perform the configurations. This is when you go resyncroniser
the router port with its 360 channels that this issue will generate approximately
5 minutes to complete failure. You can not do otherwise
- Somewhere in the week, we must configure with 2x10G
France Telecom in Paris to start peering with AS3215. The
peering with TPSA in Frankfurt was established but it remains
some rules to do (Ovh wishes to use its own IP, a
needs of a specific configuration and then on a network to complete
between Brussels / Frankfurt to sell the i7Gbps to TPSA).
- We also Lyon and Marseille to install. Awaiting Delivery
optical fiber between MMR and Ovh in LDCom (uh Neuf Telecom
euhh Sfr).
- If not? BAHH Ca bosse ça va huh, huh yeah BAHH Bon ...

Amicalement
Octave
