At the end of the /etc/network/interfaces file simply add:

auto eth0:0
iface eth0:0 inet static
address x.x.x.x
netmask 255.255.255.255

Where x.x.x.x is the failover

Just follow the OVH Guide for Ubuntu.

If it does not say to add it, then don't.

But FYI you do not need Bcast/Gway

hi!

i recently enabled the 2nd ip failover for my ubuntu server but cant see how to enable it.

the guide for setting them up doesnt seem clear but speaks of editing /etc/network/interfaces which contains this

auto eth0
iface eth0 inet static
address 213.186.58.153
netmask 255.255.255.0
network 213.186.58.0
broadcast 213.186.58.255
gateway 213.186.58.254
the new ip i activated is somewhat different to the 213.xx.xx.xx above so that left me confused as to wether to include the broadcast / gateway / network segments of that above block if i add the new ip

anyone out there got any suggestions?
