heh you haven't been looking too much :P 14.40 ($21.30) is a lot for a RapidSSL certificate, you can get them from American resellers for around 12-15USD, GoDaddy certificates go for $12.99, and PositiveSSL go for $10, which is about as low as these certs will go for. Links below

For running an online shop you will want a certificate verified by a third party.

For phpmyadmin access etc the above certificate (while a bit messy) does its job fine.

And many others provide SSL certificates. You can get the free ones but not all browsers will trust them.

Verification by a third party is the only way to not get an alert like you got.

You can however minimise the alert by generating a better certificate...

openssl req -new -x509 -nodes -out cert.pem -keyout cert.pem -days 3650
Where cert.pem (note its written twice) is the certificate file. Specify your domain as the 'YOUR name' part.

Right I get this when every i go on any of the login panel on my server, e.g web min, phpmyadmin the lot. I don't know how serious it is or how to fix it here what the pages says.

I have always just clicked the link to continue, but am planning on running a shop on the server now and don't know how bad it is. got the server back in january.
