They will, its already been confirmed there will be STM once the roll out is finished. They already have it on the 2, 10 and 20Mbps products, if they can't support those at full speed 24/7 they definitely can't do 50...!

They haven't so far, they're a pretty good company, even advertise that you can use their internet for P2P apps as well, so I don't think they're headed towards an STM policy

It could well be. They had hundreds of servers down in that room and they might still be bringing them back up. I know Virgin Media had issues with connectivity to OVH last night, and my access was only restored in the early hours, tho my server came back up at about 00:30 last night, I could only access it through a proxy.

If your server still isn't up, ring support. No use e-mailing, it takes too long.

Don't feel bad, I'm running what I think is 2Mbps now, and that's download I'm switching to something else soon, will have 10Mbps just like you, could have gone for the 20 but saw no point, and its almost twice as much. Though I gotta admit, living in a country where you can get a 50Mbps residential line has its advantages

My server is in the room mentioned in this post I'll lose my nice 72 days uptime Wah! Ah well, a fresh reboot will probably do it some good. With it being Windows OVH can't cleanly shut it down either! It'll be fine! Just get it back online ASAP!

Hello,

Here's some news about Ovh:
- We are doing important work tonight on room 4 in Roubaix 2.
Customers have received an email with the procedure in place.
What is the problem? We need to change an electrical cable
to a larger and increase the capacity of the breaker to room 4.
The aim is to avoid a disaster one day perhaps. We prefer not
not play with the likelihood of failure, but solve the problem once
and for all. The servers will be stopped and then restarted 30 minutes
after shutdown. Everything is ready. The work will begin after midnight.
Check it here:
http://travaux.ovh.net/?do=details&id=2957

- We finished filling the router vss-1-6k which manages
3 rooms of hostings in the datacentre Roubaix 2. Either
approximately 12,000 servers.

- We started the new router vss-2-6k ... Human error
caused a problem on IPV6 / IP load balancing servers routed
by vss-1-6k for 3-4 hours (the technician has lost a finger).
The vss-3-6k is expected in 3-5 months. It should meet the 3
vss routers until the end of the year and then start using the
New Cisco routers Nexus 7000 from January / February 2009
with a network capable of routing up 5Tbps ...

- We are finishing capacity increases between
vss-1-6k/vss-2-6k and Amsterdam / Frankfurt / London and therefore
peering points AMSIX, Linx and Decix. There are a few patches
(connections) in Amsterdam that will allow us to have
more transit near Teleglobe and Global Crossing.
Transmission upgrades have been initiated (already!) between 2 Roubaix
and Amsterdam / Frankfurt and then we prepare the establishment of the link
Roubaix / London to 8x10Gbps (to start).

- We may increase the ability to DTAG to 3x10Gbps ... in
negotiation ...

- We believe that all work will be completed in the network in about
6 weeks. This will provide network capacity and very importantly
... we will have to use it ... We have negotiated alot of
bandwidth, especially to destinations such as USA, Canada.
In short, ... it will release ... already on the housing ... then why
no dedicated servers? ...

- We already talked a bit about OvHache. Eventually it will hit in
little ... there is still a little work on the site and ...

- Shipments of servers are not as we wished. It is
substance at the production server but can not
deliver 100% of servers in 1 hour. It is early days at 2-5 ...

- The 50Go RPS promotion was a true success. We are still clearing
the backlog of these orders. It is believed that towards the end
this week we should be all caught up but don't hold me to that. You
have ordered in 2 weeks 20% of all RPS ...

- We have improved the detection of attacks that we receive
and we send. If your server sends an attack
it is automatically put into rescue. This system has been live
for 3 weeks. There remains the problem of spam ...

Regards,
Octave
