GNOME on CentOS

Just incase anyone else want's to get around this:

vi /etc/yum.conf

comment out the exclude line.

Save.

yum groupinstall "X Window System" "GNOME Desktop Environment"

It will error on installing the kernel.

Reboot the box when done.

Bob's your uncle you have a gnome desktop

Hi guys
Just signed up, got my first server (RPS II). I'm SSH'd in and trying to install GNOME (yum groupinstall 'GNOME Desktop Environment') but it comes up with

Missing Dependency: kernel >= 2.6 is needed by package gnome-volume-manager-2.15.0-5.el5.i386

any pointers?

P.S. Yes I'm new to linux but I'm trying
