Hi

There is a problem with mir1, to improve performance you could also change to ftp (not http) which will improve speeds, we are also upgrading it soon it will be a lot faster.

I can confirm (from my server) that mir1 is still slow so I have switched to mir2.

If you are a newbie and you are experiencing problems, you can switch to mir2.

type:
Code:
pico /etc/apt/sources.list
and change:
Code:
deb http://mir1.ovh.net/debian/ etch main
deb-src http://mir1.ovh.net/debian/ etch main
to:
Code:
deb http://mir2.ovh.net/debian/ etch main
deb-src http://mir2.ovh.net/debian/ etch main
save and exit,

now type:
Code:
apt-get update
should be a little quicker and also appears to be more up-to date by upgrading git-core and apt itself?

I noticed some slow speeds on mir1.ovh.net a few hours ago, but just put it down to heavy load and didn't bother reporting it.
I try to use a combination of mir1 + mir2 across servers and generally speaking both are usually pretty fast.
Maybe take a look at mir1 if things don't improve though!

I'm aware that there were some interventions done on that machine on Friday 24th. That's probably the explanation why you had those low speeds, but not it's fine.

Anyone noticed anything with mir1.ovh.net? Response times are awfully slow when updating.

Took 13 seconds to fetch 395 bytes..?
