RPS evolution

Hello,
RPS evolve in terms of disk space by default. We go from 10GB to 20GB.
We will also propose the "premium" and "business" of iSCSI that will
better access performance compared to the "standard". Thus those
who needs a lot of disk I will find happiness on the RPS.

Short history:
18 months ago we launched the RPS v1 beta. After 6 months of work
we completed the RPS v1 walking (!) but could not manage
the quality of server (QoS) as we expected. In v2 of RPS, we
have integrated QoS iSCSI which allows to distribute resources
our storage facilities to all customers. On v2, we
found that the discs often broke and the replacement disk
cause cuts in services that were unpleasant. We
have therefore decided to change all of our discs filers (2100 discs!)
by disks more efficient, more reliable and ... more expensive. All this work
have been completed there 10 days. Last week we rebalanced
the QoS of all iSCSI RPS to provide what we have planned in the v1.

And thanks to new disks we can evolve the service so
follows:

- By default the space of a RPS from 10GB to 20GB (for the same price)
you can do in the manager.

- By default the service quality is "standard". And we can offer
quality "premium" and "business" of iSCSI with better access time.
Thus, the major consumers of discs will be able to pass on the offers
meet their needs. For it is against paying options.

Default:
For 10Euro HT / month, you have a RPS 1 Atom 1 with 512RAM, 20GB discs.
If you need more space, 10 GB costs 2 Euro HT / month. The price does
therefore not change. For against, you have 2 times more space.

If you want to have the same RPS 20Go with 1 in premium, it will
HT 20euro / month. If you need more space, 10 GB costs 5 Euro HT / month

And if you need this RPS 1 with 20GB in "business", it will be proposed
HT to 30Euro per month. And more space, 10 GB costs 10 Euro HT / month.

The "premium" includes automatic backup accessible by FTP to a
other media (backup infrastructure is in another datacentre).
And the "business" includes automatic backup accessible with FTP
snapshot of the previous days. We do not offer backup available on
the "standard" even if we make the backups (the backup is only
internally accessible just in case of serious crash).

Performance premium is 4 times higher than standard. Performance
"business" is 4 times higher premium. We can offer you
on the same infrastructure through the choice of discs faster than in
previous infrastructure.

The NFS will no longer be offered. It is not suitable for the uses we
want you.

Planning:
- This evening you will be able to increase the RPS to your 10GB to 20GB
- Before the end of the week, opportunities to test premium free
for 24 hours (1 time only).
- Beginning next week, possible to order the premium
- Can test possibilities "business" (if you are premium only).

Hello

RPS evolves in terms of default disk space. We are going from 10GB to 20GB. We will
also propose the "Premium" and "Business" iSCSI offer which will have better access
performance compared to "Standard" one. Thus, those who need a lot of disk access
will be happier with the RPS.

A short story:
18 months ago, we launched the RPS v1 in Beta. After 6 months of work, we've
completed the RPS v1 which worked, but we could not manage the Quality of
Service (QoS) as we had expected. In the RPS v2 we have integrated the iSCSI
QoS which allows us to distribute the resources of our storage to all our customers.
On v2, we've found that the discs broke often and the disk replacement caused cuts
in the servers that are unpleasent. We have therefore decided to change all the
disks of our storage (2100 disks!!) to disks with bigger performance, more reliable
and .... more expensive. All this work has been finished 10 days ago. The past
week we rebalanced the QoS on the RPS iSCSI to provide what we planned in
the V1.

And thanks to the new disks, we can evolve the service in the following way:
-By default, the disk space of an RPS goes from 10GB to 20GB (for the same
price!). You can this change from your manager
-By default, the service quality is "Standard". And we can offer "Premium" and
"Business" iSCSI quality with better access times. Thus, the big disk consumers
can go to the offers that answer their needs. For this, they pay accordingly.

By default:
For £10/month, you have an RPS Atom 1 with 512MB RAM, 20GB of disk.
If you need more space, +10GB costs £2/month. So price hasn't changed.
But you've got double space than before.

If you wish to have the same RPS 1 with 20GB "Premium", it'll be £20/month.
If you have more disk needs, +10GB costs £5/month.

And if you need the RPS 1 with 20GB in "Business", it'll be proposed at £30/month.
And the extra space, +10GB will cost £10/month.

The "Premium" offer contains the automatic backup accessible through FTP
in another media (a backup infrastructure located in another datacenter).
The "Business" offer contains the automatic backup accessible through FTP
with the snapshots from previous days.
The backup is not offered in the "Standard" series, even if we make the
backups (the backups are only accessible internally, just in case of a major crash).

The "Premium" performance is 4 times higher than the "Standard". The "Business"
performance is 4 times higher than the "Premium". We are able to offer this thanks
to the choice of faster disks than in the previous infrastructure.

The NFS won't be offered anymore. It cannot be adapted to the use we want to propose.

Planning:
- This evening, you are offered to increase your RPS from 10GB to 20GB
- Before the weekend, we will offer you the posibility to test the "Premium" for free
for 24 hours (just once)
- The beginning of next week, the option to order "Premium"
- Posibility to test "Business" series (only if you're in "Premium")
