Even if you have recompiled the kernel then you have to enabled it for modules, also it is best to use the latest kernel from
http://www.kernel.org/.

Then you haven't followed the guide correctly.
This is still the default OVH kernel.
Forgive me, but one minute you're asking about VMWare, then XEN, then BSD and back again. Why not start with one thing at a time if it's something you're not used to doing? Once you figure out how to do one, you'll likely be able to figure out the problems with the other OS distros. In fact, I'm not even sure how to answer you now as I might be answering something that you're no longer trying to install...
... I have a feeling someone's pulling our chain, to be honest ...

I have merged all 3 topics together because they are all kernel related, if you want a CentOS build with a modular kernel then you will need to follow the steps here,
http://ovhwiki.com/index.php/Installing_your_own_kernel
before im do manually !
http://forum.ovh.co.uk/showthread.php?t=2418
but nobody provide me a solution for thats problem !

The problem is that you don't know how to compile a modulare kernel and boot from it.
Just selecting the option doesn't help.
Hi
we can Successful install clean kernel with this toturial...
Code:
http://ovhwiki.com/index.php/Installing_your_own_kernel
also in this step
im just select
Code:
Loadable module support
fo now i want install vmware server 2 show this error
Code:
]# /usr/bin/vmware-config.pl

As already explained in the several other threads, you need a modular kernel.
The OVH kernel isn't modular, so you need to compile your own.
until now no body cant install vmware server 2?
Hi
/user/src
directory are empty
All fixed, should be able to reinstall now.
Hi
We are aware of the problem and are working to fix as quick as possible. I will let you know when it is fixed.
Yep problem is in my manager too.
Thank You GigaBit for FAST LIGHT SPEED reply
I see what you mean - I just went into the manager and the linux list is broken!
Wait until tomorrow and it should be fixed.
Yes
at this time we can just select BSD !
please check your manager
maybe thats problem are for all ? or just me
Did you select a distribution from the list that appears?
Hi

next button are hidden !
just i see " BACK "
what is problem?
Hi
any body can install vmware server 2.x in centOS?
seems not work with OVH kernel..
You
might need to recompile the kernel with module support, but first try this:
Goto the /usr/src directory and you should see some folders, i've got:
Code:
linux-headers-2.6.24-16
linux-headers-2.6.24-16-generic
So for vmware I think I would use the path:
Code:
/usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.24-16/include
thanks
next error :
What is the location of the directory of C header files that match your running
kernel? [/usr/src/linux/include]
The path "/usr/src/linux/include" is not an existing directory.
Just make the directory, everything will be ok after that.
Code:
mkdir /lib/modules/2.6.27.10-grsec-xxxx-grs-ipv4-64
Hi
when i run:
Code:
]# /usr/bin/vmware-config.pl
WARNING: Couldn't open directory /lib/modules/2.6.27.10-grsec-xxxx-grs-ipv4-64: No such file or directory
FATAL: Could not open /lib/modules/2.6.27.10-grsec-xxxx-grs-ipv4-64/modules.dep.temp for writing: No such file or directory
Unable to open kernel module dependency file
.Execution aborted.
why show thats error ?
