Any one else annoyed to see the unmetered, guaranteed bandwidth, per Mbit options gone? (100/200/300Mbit per Server)

Personally I thought that was a good way to price the bandwidth, the option should at least be there for users that know they need exactly 100Mbit or 200Mbit or 300Mbit. It's not like it has to be cheap either, if you're offering guaranteed bandwidth as an add-on on top of the current offers it could be priced effectively and benefit all.

Just my 2 cents...

OVH will most likely pay for the connection and also pay on how much they use on a 95% percentile basis. It wouldn't cost them any different either way. They now offer 1Gbps with a traffic limit because people requested it. Bare in mind not every server has it.

They have stopped offering unmetered 100Mbit connections (34TB per month) and are now offering metered 1Gbit connections (10/15/40TB per month).

I'm pretty sure its not the speed that you send out packets that OVH pays for, but rather how many packets, so it must be cheaper to offer a 1Gbps connection with 10TB of monthly bandwith as opposed to a 100Mbps connection with 34TB of monthly bandwith

I just don't understand how OVH can turn around and offer TRUE gigabit connection - OVH > Internet for so cheap - companies charge 1000 pounds..

Which makes me think the 200mpbs limitation is still in - keep in mind these changes were to help OVH save money/improve network performance - allowing users true gigabit connection on all fronts is counterproductive.

I have not seen an OFFICIAL post - neither of you work @ OVH do you?
Are you in France? Are you on the French forums? Do you order from France?

No.

So we told you the deals you can get when ordering from the UK (and any other OVH allowed country except for France, they are the only ones that get special deals).

Oles posted this info many, many times, and if you cannot be bothered to read his posts than don't insult the members of this forum, Andy, or me as its my job to know what is going on with OVH and what services they currently offer.

But thats the french site.

UK shows:

SwitchPort 1 Gbps

So it changes from site to site from where you order.. Thats an interesting marketing ploy

Would love to see one of these Oles posts if you have a link handy.

As above, Oles has mentioned this more than once in other topics.

OVHelp, you have just been told several times what the limits are, what more do you want?

OVHelp
12-08-2009, 15:09
What? I would just like an official ruling on how limit speeds will be run on PRO servers from this point.

You even capitalized the word traffic yourself

Well I must say thats quiet impressive if it is infact true - but we have yet to see anything from Oles on this matter (I miss it?)

It is now 100Mbps for everything on a 100Mbps port and 1Gbps for everything on a 1Gbps port, including OVH > Internet.

I don't see why people have a problem with Internet to OVH, it has always been unmetered!

Internet to OVH (aka download) = Free/Unmetered

OVH to OVH = currently counted with OVH to Internet, will be free on August 30th, 2009

OVH to Internet = For kimsufi this is 3TB, for unmetered PRO this is unmetered, for traffic PRO this is limited based on the traffic cap as per each server subgroup (SP has 5TB, EG has 10TB, MG has 15TB, HG has 40TB).

Someone needs to clear this up once and for all.

There are people scattered across numerous posts asking questions about TRAFFIC changes/limits - since the old packages actually STATED what was counted.

There are 3 options:

Internet to OVH = ?
OVH to OVH = Free
OVH to Internet = ?

Im assuming OVH to OVH is obviously free, the rest need to be outlined explicitly for PRO servers - but the rest...?
