Rsync over ftp?

You can mount the FTP server using something like CurlFtpFS and then use rsync. But you're better off sticking to tarring, but simply doing an incremental backup (there's tons of apps / scripts out there for this). Sunday you make a full backup, Mon-Sat you do incrementals.

No this isn't possible. Rsync is completely different to FTP. It's an entirely different protocol.

Since ovh slashed their free FTP backup space on all new packages I need a more space friendly way to backup rather than regular "tar and upload" then delete old ones when I get a chance, it just isn't going to cut it with 100Gb backup space.

So... is it possible to do a rsync style backup via FTP, I've spent the last half a hour googling and I've not found any real solution.

The idea is I have /my/folder/ and on my OVH FTP i have /backup/folder, I want /my/folder/ to keep in sync with /backup/folder on the FTP, it doesn't need to be realtime every 24 hours will do.

Anyone got a solution.
