Is Netboot broke?

Thanks for clearing that up Myatu, I'm expecting the same error I see to happen to anyone that tries the steps above now as we all use the same manager!

Admittedly, this was 2 days ago. So if OVH has changed things in a major way since then, then I would be in the wrong. Make sure to select the correct root

So you're saying you CAN select kernel 2.6.28.4 x86 & SMP in your netboot V3 manager and validate it? ie, the next page after it validated should show:
Netboot state :
Kernel : 2.6.28.4

You can really do this?

I can't.
I used to be able to.
But now it go to:
Netboot state :
Kernel : 2.6.31.5

It does this everytime now.

I haven't had issues with it. Select a netboot kernel, validate, then either use "shutdown -r now" on the server or do a hard reboot. C'est tout.

Can someone try the following to confirm what I'm seeing with netboot:

1. Log into OVH manager.
2. Click "Services""
3. Click "Netboot"
4. Click "Netboot Expert"
5. Select 2.6.28.4 x86 & SMP
6. Click "Vailidate"
7. Click "OK"

When I do this my netboot state shows:
Netboot state :
Kernel : 2.6.31.5
Processor : x86
Root : /dev/sda1

WTF?
Even worse, when I reboot the server via the CP it goes into rescue mode!

UPDATE: Ok, there's a big list of available kernels in the drop down menu when I go into netboot expert.
Selecting anything OLDER than the .29 beta versions fails after I validate, it shows the above kernel loaded instead.
Just trying a reboot on 2.6.29.3-rt-beta with fingers crossed. :/

UPDATE 2: Server came up, ssh showed the following:
Linux nsxxxxxx.ovh.net 2.6.31.5-xxxx-rt14-ipv6-64 #1 SMP PREEMPT RT Thu Oct 29 20:43:05 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Hmmm, it's loaded 31 instead of 29, which is way wierd.

So I go back to the CP, select 2.6.31.5 x86 & SMP & GRSEC and reboot via ssh.
Now my ssh port (which is changed from 22 by default) is not available, however, port 22 IS available suggesting the server has now rebooted into rescue mode, yet the netboot shows it as 2.6.31.5

This is VERY wierd and frustrating!
