I would be VERY interested in the SMS api if prices were a lot cheaper... I don't mind the prepaying etc and believe ovh can do a good business with this, but the prices like others have pointed out are too high currently.

Hmm, perhaps Oles should re-think those prices. Most SMS providers in the UK have two separate tarrifs for national and international SMS services, and the price will go down based on pre-payment.

Take ClickSMS for example. National SMS starts at 5.2p for 100, down to 3.8p for 100,000+. International starts at 8p down to 5.8p. That's a significant difference from what OVH is offering.

Even my local VoIP provider does SMS deliveries for 5.8p each (though they don't have an API afaik). I also know a company that has 3.9p fixed rate (national, 5p international), regardless of the amount of texts.

I'm not saying that OVH has to beat everyone else's prices or products, but this particular service (to be) has a rather significant gap compared to other existing service providers in the UK, so what's the competitive advantage?

smsdiscount.com are pretty cheap - about 5p a message plus you get cheap phone>phone and free PC>PC calls like Skype. They also do a callback system.

I have been using them for about 2 years..

Bulk SMS are another option

Looks interesting, but 8 pence per sms is a rip off. I pay 3.5 pence for premium UK routes and a customisable sender ID.

Just saw this new section on the OVH website - looks like it could be really cool, if we can integrate this into our sites? Would that be possible through the API?
