Thanks all
Yea it turned out to be a firewall issue, heh
I had opened port 25, but there's a seperate setting in CSF for SMTP connections, d'oh!

I would assume it's a firewall. Got something like SELinux running?

Yes, smtp is for sending mails.
But I had thought you use your own mail server, as postfix is in use.
Thats why I asked why it is connecting to a remote smtp.

Looks like a configuration issue to me.

Why is postfix trying to connect to a remote host on port 25?
Or are you using Gmail/Hotmail to send emails?

Did you test any other server.. It might be that these 2 are blocking you

If you want to try sending to another OVH server then you can use:

Hey all

I've been trying all night to get Postfix to send emails out, but it keeps failing
The errors I'm getting are

Nov 18 23:33:33 server1 postfix/smtp[26271]: connect to alt2.gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com[209.85.218.6]: Connection timed out (port 25) Nov 18

Nov 18 23:34:03 server1 postfix/smtp[26280]: connect to mx2.hotmail.com[65.55.92.184]: Connection timed out (port 25)
I assume port 25 isn't blocked by kimsufi/ovh, as I can telnet to those servers with port 25 and it seems to connect ok..

E.G..

telnet mx2.hotmail.com 25

Trying 65.55.37.104...

Connected to mx2.hotmail.com (65.55.37.104).
