It looks like SPLA licenses are for ISPs like OVH who want to provide Windows as part of their offerings!

To translate that - you shouldn't need an SPLA license to install your own copy of Windows on your dedicated server!

No, I don't understand it.

However, if you are using a dedicated server to run your own web site, I think you do not need the SPLA licence. (And you cannot get an SPLA licence unless you are a member of the Microsoft Partner Program, which is aimed at people providing software services.)

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to say that I managed to install Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition. It took arround 75 minutes on an EG-09 server.

The first time it failed, message was: Boot order is bad (fix BIOS to boot first on sdb) !, later on I tried again and it succeeded with no problems.
