Suddenly cannot connect to server!!!!
When you change your password it should not revert back to your old password automatically. Do you have a control panel installed to the server that could be doing this?
every time i change my password it goes back to the original :s
this happened before this incident...
install chkrootkit and rkhunter , scan you machine.
also i recommend clamav , install that also and scan your / for viruses.
Just change the password and username. Disable root, you should be fine.

1. change the ssh port
2. disable root
3. change the username.
scan the server or just reformat.
[I accidentally posted a screenshot with my server's IP and username in a debian help forum]
The problem:
I cannot connect to my server. I was using it all day, but now it has stopped working.
SSH = operation timed out
PING = operation timed out
Could I have been hacked because of the screenshot? Or is there a general network issue in OVH at the moment.
Any suggestions?
EDIT: Now it is working. But I'm afraid it was a hacking attempt. My server may be compromised. Any recommendations?
