Even better: There is now a distribution with VMware Server based on Debian Etch. This distribution comes with modules support, as there is no other way to use VMware.
Best regards,
Felix
would be helpfull if support answered emails i asked for refund monday as i needed server up by friday i asked on phone then followed up with email wednesday to make sure it had been put forward for refund still no reply only thing i got was server delivery notice this morning.

OK, sorry to hijack the thread back to feedback... but here goes
The main feedback, and the thing that is making me drag my heels on signing up, is the lack of IP addresses
I like to run HyperVM, and split into several virtual servers - however with two IP addresses, once one is taken for HyperVM, I only have one left for a virtual server. When/if you offer additional IPs, I can split the virtualisation better, and have different O/S running on different IPs
...just my ten cents - as a not-yet customer
He dont want you to help him because his servers are full of pirate files.Else he would give you the server info.
as always another fob of from ovh read you will know my problem and many other your choice your actions but i know what will be the outcome nothing and more excuses ovh

im sure you cant help me as i had little and no response i got a few pohne cal back then no resolution and if you think that you can fix the problem in here your wrong i sent many emails and phone calls to support over the same error over and over again and nothings happened in nearly a month so why should you change your services now:?
you guys just put alot of servers out what even setup or ordered you should stop over selling and concentrate on your existing customers but you wont has its all about the $$ with you lot and not about customer care. check the forums many people un happy with what you provide and little happy with what you actually do thats when you decide to supply servers yes ive waited over a week nearly for one basic kimi which is shocking as it was said 72 hours nonsense 300 available..makes me sick knowing i left my old ****ty providers to go with you this was my mistake i suppose with many others what went for it ok stop error runtime and yeah i updated reinstalled4 times and still the same error your move

YES ! I think I said it, didn't I ? I think I will send soon a release
about our network work. The last one: last week, we are connected to BNIX
(Brussels) with 10G and we are now setup the peering in Brussels directlty
(200km from Roubaix). Our London dark fiber loop is ordered and will be up
in 4 weeks. We will connect to Linx with 10G and anothers peering points.
We will order a Europen 10G loop in 2-3 weeks: Amsterdam/Varsovie/Prage/Frankfurt
+ Prage/Vienne/Milan/Zurick/Frankfurt + Paris/Madrid/Milan and will be able
to connect to lot of new peering point (I think in Septembre it will finished).
We will order 700km of dark fiber from Brussel to Frankfrt (thought Cologne)
and be able to get 400Gbps on this direction for the new transit links.
The same from Roubaix to London (on dec 2008 or fev 2009). But it's not
all what we do on the network. Hmmm ... I will send soon a release about
our network work (I think I sent it 3-4 weeks ago).
Well, the network is never finished and is still in expension
also waiting a week for a 72 hours dispatch no good and as someone said in here who got banned stop banging **** servers out the door for the sales purposes and if i get banned also for writing the truth well do it

you know why that is? we've got members of the public biting our heads off demanding answers. The more you tell them the more they complain and it only makes things worse. I've had several crashes due to a high email count that the shared server couldn't handle. and all of them were people demanding stuff to be done. as a site owner what can I do? It just gets beyond control it's like an all out riot has broken loose that I can't control at the min. that's all.
my server sux eggs always down wait for a day or two for reply no point phoning cs as waste of time so you need to start sorting the problems out before selling more poor service servers
LOL...you know what makes me laugh the most? I have been saying this for a month now! Just tell your customers the truth! If it will take 2 weeks to deploy a server, then just say 2 weeks. Has OVH not noticed that customers will still order from them but are only complaining about not getting a straight answer?

I agree with you. It feels like we can't get a straight answer. I can understand there are delays but there must be a way of giving us more accurate info as I'm being told monday. then wednesday. It's not right having to tell visitors the delay might be longer than expected as they start complaining.

After two months, and still not a lot of things to complain about ^^.
Just two things:
1) I was running Fedora Core 6, and a few days ago, i wanted to try Fedora 8. In the list of OS, i was able to chose between Fedora 6 and 8 and installed fedora 8. But the next day, i wanted to reinstall fedora 6 and i couldn't... is there a reason you decided to remove fedora 6 from the list of OS?
2) As i describe in this post
http://forum.ovh.co.uk/showthread.php?t=240 , the iptables (for centos and fedora at least) aren't empty. So when you get a server reinstall with one of these OS, install vnc server and try to connect to it, you're unable to do so. As suggested, i might be better to have iptables empty in the initial configuration.
Except that, i'm still amazed by the quality of the server and of your services (hard reboot, reinstall,... from the manager panel are amazing) ^^
My experience has been great so far.
I ordered on the 2nd of may, and recieved my server on the 15th.
Havn't had to use support yet, though the monitoring and automatically qued hard-reboots are very useful.
Availability has been great, but i've had some trouble maxing out my bandwidth during testing. That may be due to my (mis)configuration though.
Latency is good to great from London!

I'm getting confused at when my server will be available as I've got a lot of people hassling me for confirmed dates. First I'm getting told monday and now I'm hearing wednesday... Please could you elaborate when it will be sorted as my visitors are getting impatient with me. Order #4000062
I've just upgraded from the normal Kimsufi to the Kimsufi 2008, and can say the extra £5 is well worth it. Bandwidth is great as usuall.
Oles,
I mean a Ubuntu Desktop, with VMware Player (free), I can then upload my XP/Vista/2003/2008 Server, pre-built and ready to run.
It can use my Failover IP, and if I have problem, I can move VM to other server and use Failover IP to move.
I do it with other server I have at RapidSwitch.
This way there is no windows license to pay you, I use my own MS Licenses, and get the benefit of Linux as the base OS.
Cheers

Oles, A Ubuntu Desktop with VMWare Player installed would be good.
CentOS/Debian/Ubuntu with ISPConfig installed as a Ready to Use.
But virtualisation (not Xen/OpenVZ) allows running of XP/2003 VM's, without the messing of Kernels.
Cheers
PS: on the Moblock & VMware, the Modules folder just needs to be there, it is a checking that fails, so from your tarball on ovhftp, how do I create a MODULES folder without re-comiling a kernel.

it's normal. I don't like my router works for the traceroute answers.
it has to make the routing. no to anwser for the traceroute.
t.
Yeah I said the traceroute wasnt very useful in my original post I, generally only see packet loss at peak times and even then its next to impossible to figure out where things are getting dropped thanks to the policy of routers to give icmp a lower priority.

hmmm ... can you tell me which option has to be compliled ? I think
it'a new one and I didn't add it yet.

modules aren't secure option for the kernels. that is why we put on
ftp.ovh.net our own tar.gz and give to customers .config to compile
the kernel you want (with no resposability for ovh).
My kimsufi 08 has been great since I got it. Fast network speeds, does exactly what it says on the tin. However I would like to see Centos 64bit as OVH do offer other 64bit operating systems, and I was a bit suprised to see that they do not offer Centos 64bit even though it is arguably one of the most popular server linux distributions

we are working on the "support for the orders" with the people which
will help you when the order isn't finished (for example a domain
transfert or a dedicated server which is long to get).

Hi, A bit of feedback.
1 ) When I put my New KimSufi 2008 into vKVM the keyboard setting is French, not UK. It was difficult to work out key differences to enter password etc.
2 ) Netfilter Modules are not correctly compiled into Kernel, I want to use MoBlock (
http://moblock.berlios.de/) to block China & Russian hackers/spammers, but it will not work, your kernel config says they are there but they do not work.
3 ) Can you provide a MODULES directory with your custom kernels and allow loadable modules, I want to install VMware but cannot, and now have to complile my own Kernel

I would like to give feedback but I have been waiting almost a week for my server when I was informed that it would take only 72 hours; to find out there was a delay. I only found out about this after enquiring.
I have mentioned it in other posts but my one suggestion would be to improve your availaibility update to give a more accurate idea of when the server will be ready. Or at it would help if there was at least a note made to teh customer during the order being made, that there may be a delay.
I will post my feedback on the server I receive as I get it,v which should be sometime this morning as I assume it was to be delivered last night.

Hi There !
I wonder what is your feedback right now about our services ?
Nothing works ? The bandwidth is bad ? Your server is down ?
You can't do what you expect to do ? Or everything is okey and
you enjoy your server ?
Regards,
Octave
