Or try:

# aptitude install lm-sensors
# sensors-detect

And just hit Enter until the app finishes. It'll show you which modules to add to /etc/modules, or you can load them manually with "modprobe (suggested module)". Once the modules are loaded, you use:

# sensors

And it'll spit out a list like Yonatan's

(PS: That works with Proxmox 1.5 )

I'm still waiting for an answer from OVH.

Load the kernel module .. it will work.

BTW it seems also Yonatan Hitachi's are 20 degrees hotter than the Seagates on his other server.
install lm sensors check out your CPU temp .. could be your cooling unit is not placed correctly ...

just seems to be the Hitachi disks operating temp is quite higher.

I agree with Yonatan. Those Hitachi's do look too warm (and in bago's case, overheating). Operating temperature for those HDs is 5-60C (see specs here).

Is it just me , or Hitachi are overheating?
I'm not sure this is normal ...

I have three of them:

Older one:
Code:
/dev/sda: ST31000528AS: 39°C
/dev/sdb: ST31000528AS: 39°C
Newers:
Code:
/dev/sda: ST31000340AS: 43°C
/dev/sdb: ST31000340AS: 47°C
and
Code:
/dev/sda: Hitachi HDS721010KLA330: 61°C
/dev/sdb: Hitachi HDE721010SLA330: 61°C
The older one has much less traffic than the newer ones.

actually the Seagate is the older machine, but both are from 2months ago +/- week from each other.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Out of interest, were they both ordered around the same time or was the Hitachi ordered a long time ago ?

here is one:
Code:
root@ns beastserv ~ # hddtemp /dev/sda
/dev/sda: Hitachi HDE721010SLA330: 53°C
root@ns beastserv ~ # hddtemp /dev/sdb
/dev/sdb: Hitachi HDT721010SLA360: 53°C
here is another:
Code:
root@server beastserv ~ # hddtemp /dev/sda
/dev/sda: ST31000528AS: 33°C
root@server beastserv ~ # hddtemp /dev/sdb
/dev/sdb: ST31000528AS: 33°C
can't really know what you getting
either Hitachi or seagate ... haven't seen WD on OVH for a while now ... but i guess they do have those also.

( btw these are kimsufi i7-2t up there ^ not ovh range... )

Would someone with a i7-2T be kind enough to post the make and model of the hard disk in the server please?

PS - I realise this might be better directed on the kimsufi forum, but I honestly cba to register there, wait until monday for approval .. when the kimsufi community generally tend to look on this forum also
