appears fine? yeah i have consumed 649GiB and it matches my netstats(vnstat) but i am not using 100% of that as external..there is more than 100GB+ that i have used as internal.

it shocks to see me that i would be forced to cancel my server at the end of this month because staff are not willing to accept there is a fault on ovh's end (the fault being that internal bandwidth is being counted) and are instead saying fine to all the users on this forum..when more than 50 users have had the same issue.

I have opened up tickets on the manager too Neil, all i keep getting is your server is fine when i am proving it with accumulated data that itnernal bandwidth is being counted

Just look at the above post every single bit consumed in this month for me has been external? is that what you are trying to say (when you say its fine)?

this problem started occuring the last 3 days before my renewal Neil, before that it wa fine, and now its not, its just that obvious

Neil plz have a look at this below and tell me i am wrong again

VNSTAT:
03/18/10 | 208.82 GiB | 419.38 GiB | 628.20 GiB | 60.99 Mbit/s
03/19/10 | 180.73 GiB | 11.91 GiB | 192.64 GiB | 18.70 Mbit/s
03/20/10 | 184.94 GiB | 85.94 GiB | 270.88 GiB | 26.30 Mbit/s
03/21/10 | 136.51 GiB | 6.32 GiB | 142.83 GiB | 13.87 Mbit/s
03/22/10 | 154.78 GiB | 123.92 GiB | 278.69 GiB | 27.06 Mbit/s
Third column = total upload for the day

Now if we ceil() all the values, we get:
420 GB
12 GB
86 GB
7 GB
124 GB
-------------
649 GB

Lets take a look at the OVH manager
Network Connection : 1Gbps
Monthly traffic : 10.00 TiB per month
Reinitialisation : 2010-04-18
Consumed this month : 649 GiB
Remaining this month : 9.37 TiB
Additional traffic : 0 TB
The amount reported in the OVH manager exactly matches the amount reported in vnstat. Which is all fine and dandy, until you take into account that I transferred a 40 GB backup to my kimsufi server today, which is included in the reported 124 GB upload. That means that at the very most, the OVH manager should report that 609 GB has been used this month, not the 649 GB it does report.

The fact that OVH, as a company, has taken a week to recognize this as a fault (if they even have yet), severely lowers my opinion of them.

Marks why are you ignoring this post?

Marks can you look into this please?

Why do paying customers have to beg for this situation to be taken seriously when OVH are in breach of their agreed contract. It's obvious that internal bandwidth is being counted towards our quota!

As I see it, till now, the vnstat show you 621.26GB, and the manager 525GB. Therefore, the difference is the internal traffic that hasn't been counted, right?

PS: you're right about the ticket: I can see the answer in French but the message hasn't got to you.
I included the 21st which was updated today = 6.32GB = 7GB!

Consumed this month : 518 GiB
Remaining this month : 9.49 TiB
Additional traffic : 0 TB

That's what ^ ovh manager showed on the 21st !

Consumed this month : 525 GiB (518 +7) (tx on 21st = 6.32)
Remaining this month : 9.49 TiB

That's what ^ ovh manager is showing today as of 22nd March 4PM uk time = till now the stats included are from 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st

Marks, i thought you already knew this, the previous day's stats are not updated until tomorrow in the ovh manager. Today is only the 22nd so the stats won't show until the 23rd. I'll post the stats again tomorrow and you can see if they add up in the same way.

There is a fault at your end which occured very recently, around the 15th, and you need to fix it ASAP before your all of your customers end up getting capped.

Cheers for pointing out the anomalies in my contact details.

I use vnstat to log the amount of traffic I use on the server, vnstat reports exactly the same amount of traffic as OVH does in my control panel. This indicates that the traffic counter is working, however it is counting internal bandwidth as external bandwidth when it shouldn't be.

these are my vnstat results for the day starting 18th

day rx | tx | total | avg. rate
------------------------+-------------+-------------+---------------
03/18/10 208.82 GiB | 419.38 GiB | 628.20 GiB | 60.99 Mbit/s
03/19/10 180.73 GiB | 11.91 GiB | 192.64 GiB | 18.70 Mbit/s
03/20/10 184.94 GiB | 85.94 GiB | 270.88 GiB | 26.30 Mbit/s
03/21/10 136.51 GiB | 6.32 GiB | 142.83 GiB | 13.87 Mbit/s
03/22/10 82.54 GiB | 97.71 GiB | 180.25 GiB | 27.72 Mbit/s

if u add up the totals from 18-21 that equals 419.38 + 11.91 + 85.94 + 6.32 = 523.55GB

here is what the manager show till the 21st update..

Consumed this month : 525 GiB
Remaining this month : 9.49 TiB
Additional traffic : 0 TB

so out of that 525GB i surely have uploaded at least 100GB internal but instead of deducting 10240GB - 425GB you are deduction 10240 - 525 (which has included the internal too)

I cannot be more clearer in the math than this..it just speaks for itself

as you can see from my above results all of that tx (transferred or outgoing BW) is being counted 100% as external but some of it is internal bw too which shouldnt be counted towards my remaining data left for the month.

I would like this issue to be rectified as soon as possible.

Regards.

PS. Marks my ticket hasn't been replied to..by Celine...

Ok.

Firstly, I'll need you to get your OVH account details for correct information, even if you're only the tech contact. Otherwise, the nichandle could be closed down

Regarding your ticket: the issue about the traffic counter is more for the support. To add up, there is nothing wrong with the traffic counter on your server, the counter is fine, it's just not showing the internal traffic (which we're looking into on adding this info). The ticket has been replied to.
