In the case of the first 2 posts ensure that you have set the cron regular enough for vnstat. 5 minutes if probably okay for 100mbps but you will want it more often for 1gbps.

ooh i see, that is handy.

Thanks very much.

Allows you to renew all servers/services on a single date rather than multiple times on multiple dates throughout the month. Great for those who get paid at the end of the month but their renewal is 5 days before that

Easy answer to that one.

Vnstat will count internal ovh to ovh bandwidth which won't be counted in the manager.

This is another server which seems ok.. vnstat says around 5000gb and the manager shows much less. I really dont think its really a case of vnstat not keeping up on the other 2 servers.. I think there must be another problem myself.. But I will change it to every 1 minute anyway..

freshwire

On my server the vnstat runs every 5 minutes. You can change this to 1 minute and it might help. You will have to find the location on your specific OS but you can start by looking at (if it exists):

/etc/cron.d/vnstat

Yes I would of thought from renewal date would make sense.. i'm still confused why there is so much difference on the second post I made.. Thats around 5TiB difference I really cant see vnstat being that much out.

No, the reset is on the renewal date.

Andy, it runs from the day you purchase your server?

What you are implying means if I purchased a server on the 27th and for example used 2TB, and on the 1st it was reset, I would then have 27days to punish another 3TB.

Thanks for the info about vnstat maybe not updating quick enough.. Is there a good amount to change the cron to for a gbit.. Like every 5 mins or somthing maybe..

Also my maths is correct but I copied to much of the vnstat -d out put.. I was only counting from the 16th as that was the server renewal date:
Network Connection : 1Gbps
Monthly traffic : 10.00 TiB per month
Reinitialisation : 2010-06-16
Excess : Yes
Consumed this month : 10.77 TiB
Additional traffic : 0 TB

I agree. Your maths is wrong. From a rough estimate looking at the first one your tx is ~500GB per day which amounts to ~15TB for a month.

Run "vnstat -w" and see.

freshwire

1. VnStat accuracy can sometimes be off a bit if the cron doesn't force the db update often enough. This is especially true for 1Gbps connections; especially if traffic spikes.

2. Your math seems off. For the first post (the 10TiB limit one) I get 17525.19 GiB (outbound) and 20917.54 GiB (total). So some portion of that must be local network but since you are now counting that with VnStat it is not clear how much is local and how much is not.

Can you explain how you worked out your values?

Hello,

Your dedicated server ns210215.ovh.net is about to pass 102 %
of outbound traffic allowed in the month :

- Monthly Quota : 10.00 TiB
- Trafic Used : 10.22 TiB
(internal traffic is not counted)

But vnstat only shows
