The difference is the format. VMWare expects a value of 00:50:56:xx:yy:zz where "xx" is a value between 00 and 3F hex and xx/yy between 00 and FF.

I think that Oles decided in keeping two separate ones rather than just sticking to VMWare's style for all the virtual MACs to avoid conflicts on the network.

Okay thats why. I did think it had to do something with the manufacturer's code. Normally the first three bytes identify the manufacturer. Well Proxmox did accept the VMware format, so would be nice if Oles put this info in the knowledge base of ovh so then at least there is less miss understanding.

For Promox it doesn't matter which one you choose.

Yeah i know because it works with my Proxmox. But just wondering what the
exact difference is ? Could not find it in the OVH procedures ?
Or is it somewhere hidden ? Thx for your fast reply

Type Virtual mac ? Use VMware or Ovh ?

I use Proxmox. And use for Type Virtual mac VMWare. This works.
But is there a difference between using VMWare or Ovh type ?

If you use and set up a virtuele MAC then you must choose between the
VMWare or Ovh type ? Is there a difference ? Can somebody tell ?
Its confusing this way.
