It depends. If you have additional IPs (either a whole block on EG/MG/HG or failover-IPs on the other dedicated servers) you can also route them through your server and use VMware's "host-only"-networking.

Did you use the OVH distribution when this happened or your own installation? With the OVH distribution this should really not happen as bridging is "disarmed" there.

Your server is now up and running. Please contact the support before posting query to OVH's staff on the forum, as we will answer more promptly.

The reason was in the following:

Date 2008-06-10 21:51:39, geoffrey.lepingle made Network connector: le serveur a bloqu le port reseau
reset du port reseau
ping ok
services up

The server has the network port blocked
Network port reset
Ping ok
Services up

That means that the switch automatically closed the Ethernet port because the server declared a MAC address which is not the original mac address of the machine. That can happen when a customer creates a virtual machines and uses a virtual mac address. This is not allowed in OVH's network and the customer need to use the NAT to create virtual machines.

Your server has been placed in vKVM mode as for the following error:
netboot du serveur ok
serveur boot sur dd ok
serveur sur login
-no ping
pas de firewall
pas d'erreur a l'ecran
serveur rebooté sur derniere bonne configuration connue
-même résultat
serveur mis en kvm pro pour corection a effetuer par le client
ping ok
services ssh open

That means:

Server netboot ok
Server boot on the Hard Drive ok
Server on the login page
-no ping (server does not answer to the ping)
no firewall
no error on the screen
server rebooted on the last known good configuration.
-same result.
server placed in vkvm pro for configuration reset by the customer
ping ok
service ssh open.

It looks like there has occurred an issue with the network card as the server works correctly but does not ping. I will replace the network cable for you and when you will receive the email in regards of the end of the intervention, please try to reboot the server on the Hard Drive, if it still does not work, please check the settings via vkvm as something could have might gone wrong with it (firewall?). Then let me know again.

You can contact us from Monday to Friday from 9 to 18 by email at customersuppotr@ovh.co.uk or by phone at the number 0207 252 3335.
