yeah but the thing is the dns needs to be running from the server itself. not from other place otherwise it won't sync.

He's trying to set reverse DNS where the DNS server is DynDNS.

But remember that for 66.205.x.y to point to guerilla.punk.is.inside.your.seriesoftub.es your ISP needs to set that up, since you don't own that netblock.

dns mainly works if you own a domain. but also you can use others but they need to have nameservers to link to.

eg. ns1.yourdomain.com & ns2.yourdomain.com then you can just make a records for the server name you want to put it as.

Can't I just set the DNS in OVH manager?

Do I have to make custom nameservers? Can't I just use the ones from DynDns? ns1.mydyndns.org, etc?

you need to use the server's own DNS system. I just use the domain to configure the custom nameservers to the server IP's. here's a guide to help you out. http://www.abyssunderground.co.uk/in...-dnsserver.php

I keep getting this error when trying to change the domain from

xxx.xxxx.co.uk

to

xxxxxx.seriesoftub.es

I created an A record for both the IP of the OVH server and an A record for the subdomain that I want to use:

I'm running Windows Server 2008 R2. Is there something I can do in Windows to change this or does it have to be done in OVH Manager?
