The traffic management on the 50mb plan is only on uploads as far as I can tell. More upload speed is great news though!

BT have put a lot of thought into the deployment of FTTC. A large majority of people will be able to get 100Mb/s down through FTTC in the future.
FTTP for 1Gb/s.

Yea, but they're also introducing traffic management and protocol shaping on ALL tiers, so the unrestricted/unlimited nature of XXL is now non existant.
