ok update i can logg in now... does anyone know the commands for transferring from my server to this backup

maybe i need to install it

You could just type "ftp ftpback3.ovh.net" at the linux prompt.

The server is PureFTPd so no SFTP, just plain FTP.

so basically I have to install a linux client ftp? I thought sftp was just the command to connect via ftp

Its a ftp server, you can't connect on it with a sftp client.

Are you definitely on ftpback3 and not a different one? Also passwords ARE cAsE sEnSeTiVe.

The backup FTP is only available to connect from your server. You can't access it from your PC.

Ahh Appologies i miss understood.. This mite be an issue you want to raise with support they could proberly guide you trough a bit better mate.

this is the problem... I run linux so i presume it has to be a linux ftp or thru ssh ... I have flashfxp on home pc connect to my server fine its just this backup im having probs with login failure all the time

Pretty easy..

Download an FTP client i use flashfxp:

Flashfxp.com

Download, Install.

Launch flash fxp and press F8 for new connection.

Login to ovh manager then go to backup..

Get your backup space hostname + username.

Enter in all the relevant details in fxp such as hostname, username and password so it should look like this:



Click connect

And your done! you can drag and drop your files.. If you want to re download your files just right click the file you want and press "Transfer".

Please also note ftp backup will only work within your server. You will not be able to access it on your home computer.

Can anyone explain please how u use the ftp backup for your dedi server as I cant find any help on this ..... I have activated it in manager have logg in details but now have drawn a blank.
