Question on dedicated servers and IP's

Right folks, I took your advice and went for a dedicated package with DirectAdmin. I have to say I'm very happy so far, makes administration a doddle. Thanks for that!

So well, I've got my first domain up and running no probs. However I'd like to start assigning specific IPs for each domain and giving each one their own nameserver. The nameserver I'm using is currently that of the server itself e.g:

DNS 1: NSxxxxxx.OVH.NET
DNS 2: SDNS1.OVH.NET

I'd like to configure it as in the example given earlier: http://admin.site-helper.com/ipman.html. The domains are registered with another company but I guess it should be the same.

DirectAdmin knocks every other panel in orbit - and if anyone disagrees, they're n00bs :P

One other thing that the support guys told me was that for things like sending emails from a domain for instance, you'll probably want the reverse (PTR) record to be in place as well so your emails don't look like spam. This can also be done through direct admin?
you set PTR from the ovh manager interface.
and i would say DirectAdmin is Much Much better.

Sorry for the typo, I meant to say each domain having it's own IP address using the 3 extra fail over IP's, instead of using the same one for all.

This can be done by ease with DirectAdmin hosting control panel.

What I wish to do is have several domains each with their own unique ID (hence preventing reverse IP lookup etc).
I'm really not sure what you mean here.

Hi all,

I'm interested the dedicated server plan (Superplan BestOF Reloaded), however I have some questions regarding IP assignment.

What I wish to do is have several domains each with their own unique ID (hence preventing reverse IP lookup etc). To start with I would need around 3-4 (I see the basic package comes with 3 failover IP's).

I contacted OVH support and they told me that it is possible. What I'd like to know is how and if its difficult to do. Does anyone know if this be done through cPanel or a similar control panel?

I don't have much server experience so any help will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Greg
