mmhh...that's strange.

So, you had access to your mailboxes through webmail.ovh.net but you your mx records where pointing somewhere else? Maybe this mail server does some sort of mail filtering before sending the emails to our mail servers.

Similar to our OVH Email Gateway:

What exactly have you pointed to a different IP? the name servers, the mx records or the A record? Give the domain name so I can check further about what the problem is.

I am having some trouble with my email setup.

We have a dedicated OVH server. The domain is hosted elsewhere, however, the MX records are pointing at mail-fwd.mx.g19.rapidsite.net. I assumed that the email was seperated from the web server as my nameservers were completely different and logging into the webmail was done by going to webmail.ovh.net.

The issue has come when i have temporarily pointed my domain to a different IP but left the MX records alone but the email has now suddenly stopped working?

Can anyone shed some light on this and let me know what mail-fwd.mx.g19.rapidsite.net is and if it is anything to do with OVH?
