winstaller.org can install windows on any ovh server for you then you can activate it via windows or even just use the 180 days trial. Installations take 1-24 hours on weekdays.

What is the process of installing Windows 2008 server?
I've heard many problems.... But is it easy to do now?
It's usually easy, but the install sometimes falls over. If it does then just try again. You put your key in the manager under Windows licence -> Windows SPLA licence.

You don't. All you can do is try it. If you're using a DreamSpark key then it'll work fine.

No. Though you need an SPLA key if you're doing any kind of hosting.

Hmm, well I'm currently on 2.5 hours and I received a defect message. That's on a dual core system with 2GB RAM.
I thought it was normal to get a defect message during install?

Perhaps I should try re-installing.....

edit: grr, can't reinstall as it thinks the previous installation is still on-going.

Ah, I'm also trying to install Windows for a client.

Is it normal that installation takes over 100 minutes? This is on an SP BestOf.
"configuration of new system" has been processing for 1 hour... and still going.

register your key in the windows licenses in your manager, then select windows when installing.

Re-activate once installed so as to use your own key and in registry locate

HKEY_LOCAL Machine\SOFTWARE\Mircosoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion
In there change Registered Owner and Registered Organisation

I contacted Microsoft and they said I can use my key for an install in a datacenter. It is ok as long as I am not making money for commerical use etc, which I am not.

I am just wondering if it will work at OVH following the "ready to use distro" (like installing linux distros), or I have to do something special to get it to work.....?

You might be entitled to use one, but not for this purpose.

I am entitled to a free Windows 2008 key due to being a student.

I don't have to pay per month, right?

Thanks if anyone can answer my questions!
