Just do what Marks said... it works fine and is the easiest way to reset your password

There is another utility that can be used called ICWT (in code we trust v2) that allows you to boot off an ISO file and then configure local administrative passwords / account states.
I'm not going to post a link to it here, as it could be classed as a hack tool, however googling for this should locate it.

I have had to use this on a production server once before when no-one could remember passwords etc

microsoft new version of the recovery console is WinPE. I'm not aware of any other tool

Did you ever fix this using a utility? I'm looking for a modern day equivalent of a toolkit I used to use on 2k3but I cannot remember what it was called. Amongst other things, you used to be able to boot a server from a floppy and then access from another PC over the network and get regedit and a bunch of other stuff.

hey guys,

a standard install of win08 enterprise has had its admin password expire (ovh's default, password expires after xx days).

any idea how i can get into this box? no other users configured...
