that was quite a weird issue. Glad that the reboot worked for you (rebooting is always a must).
Then only thing I want to let you know is that you can change the password through WinPE (wirescue mode). Just in case you need it in the future.

Tried forcing a reboot to see if it updates the RDP?
ok ive now re-installed again...
changed just the password, and have hit the same problem again.
i can ssh to the box, and it accepts the new password. but RDP wont ?

i dont know if im missing something here, but ive got a dedi with win2008 standard edition.
i log in with the details provided, and changed username of *root* and password to the details i wanted. clicked ok confirmed etc.
closed the current session of RDP, and re loaded it up. entered new details bang cant enter, tried old details bang cant enter? what did i do wrong?
