Thanks for this! Does it keep the correct kernel intact?

Thanks Marks

Hopefully someone who has done this can chip in with any tips.

upgrading a live server is always a bit tricky. Even though similar upgrades have been alright, there can always be problems.

In any case, when it comes to the OVH support , we cannot help you on the upgrade, it's entirely up to the customer.

The recommendation is, as you've mentioned, the customer kernel. It's better to stick to the OVH kernel, so do not upgrade it (or make sure that 10.4 doesn't change the booting kernel, or you can use the network kernel all along).

Hope another customer who's done the same upgrade can give you more specific information.

Hi folks

I'm looking to upgrade my 9.04 server to 10.04, which I believe means an intermediate upgrade to 9.10. I've also read some stuff about OVH having custom kernels which are (or were) not compatible with 10.04.

Can anyone give any specific information on the viability of upgrading like this? I want to avoid a fresh install if at all possible (production server).

Many thanks!
