Yeah, fair enough.

If you have multiple servers then it may be worth while ordering a cheapy Kimsufi box to test the upgrades out yourself.

If it works at least enough for your requirements then it could be a good temporary solution to bring the servers into line. And if not then a test bed for the easiest upgrade and migrate scenario.

According to the Debian release it is possible to upgrade Lenny to Squeeze with no forced downtime. So assuming you read the release notes and don't update the kernel I don't see why you could not upgrade to Squeeze and keep proxmox 1.9.

Not really. in fact, to upgrade you have to remove proxmox 1.9, upgrade Lenny
to Squeeze, and then install proxmox 2.0 on top of it.

This is the recommended way. Also see

Sorry, this isn't OVH's fault. Debian have now archived Lenny. Anyone using Proxmox VE 1.9 should edit

/etc/apt/sources.list

and change

deb ftp://mirror.ovh.net/debian lenny main contrib non-free

to

deb http://archive.debian.org/debian lenny main contrib non-free

and

deb http://security.debian.org/ lenny/updates main

to

deb http://archive.debian.org/debian-security/ lenny/updates main contrib

This is a pretty stupid move, OVH. Lenny is the Debian version which Proxmox VE 1.9 is based on, so any of your customers using Proxmox 1.9 won't receive updates or be able to install new software until they've changed mirrors.
