I have opened a ticket, it could be the issue and sometimes this how the issues happen, this is why we ask a traceroute from and to the server.

The ticket has been opened, routing issues can take a while to be resolved so please do bear with us while we check it.

Hi

The routing looks fine, it does however go on to our Transit providers to Sweden which we have less control over, on weathermap there is no congestion at frankfurt. But if you want, I or you ;-) could open a ticket with the traceroutes and we can double check.

Last years range EG Best Of (I think) and UK. Not that it should matter. OVH shouldn't be changing the speeds and routing based on server and subsidiary.

What server and from which subsidary?

Well that's my point, I think there is enforced QoS or congestion on the route. We tried with 10 FTP threads, it just slows down each thread and still hits just 15Mbps.

We have also tried HTTP, the speedtest.net test I believe runs over HTTP but he can only pull the same over a regular file download too. The FTP stream is also encrypted not that it should matter.

Edit: Again it's definitely some form of limit as it stayed the same well into the night.

Congestion wouldn't necessarily fluctuate more, especially if it is enforced congestion aka QoS :P I'd try with even more than 5 threads, and try HTTP as well not just FTP.

Further investigation makes it look like it's a hard limit somewhere and not congestion.

Blue is incoming from him, solid 15Mbps and virtually no fluctuation. Congestion would fluctuate much more.

The co-admin of my site who is on a 1000/1000 (100/100 external) bredbandsbolaget connection in Sweden is complaining of slow speeds to my OVH server. Using 5 FTP connections he can only average about 1.8MB/s. He has 100Mbps upload to the internet (1Gbps inside bredbandsbolaget) so it's no where near saturated and he has no uploads his end besides those.

Can someone look into the routing/capacity of the routes used?

It happens fairly frequently but today is particularly bad. I have a Gigabit server, so he should be able to max out his upload no problem if the routing is good enough. He can manage it just fine to the US where he has some servers himself.
