Before you go upgrading take good note of this above, "both for ordering and reinstallation".

Nowhere does it mention upgrading anything.

I've also done the update but it seems to have broken my pptpd vpn service, it seems to be running but I can't connect to it, does anybody else run pptpd?

Yes upgrading. Wasn't going to start a new thread.

I got several errors after updating grub such as
/usr/sbin/grub-probe: warn: disk does not exist, so falling back to partition device /dev/sda1
but it updated correctly anyway and running 3.5.0-17-generic now.

The alarm bell for me here is your mention of the word 'upgrade'

You did a fresh install or upgraded an existing install?

OVH default kernels are not modular so they will never find ANY modules.

The post above is the standard OVH post that indicates that the distro is available for install from the OVH manager.

It is very likely that this will only work on a fresh install of the server and so will wipe any existing data.

Upgraded and I am receiving a bug with the custom kernel and grub.

Hi,

Tonight, the Ubuntu team has released the new version of Ubuntu:
Ubuntu 12.10! It has a name that follows the alphabet so after
latest "Precise Pangoline", which is also an LTS release
with 5 years of support, now it's 'Q' as "quality".

The name of the new Ubuntu is:

Quantal Quetzal

and is now available at OVH!

Quetzal, which is also the name of a very colorful bird species,
follow you in your plans for the next 18 months.

This variation 'Server' marks a new real orientation
towards "Cloud" (who said Qloud?). With the integration of Juju in
OpenStack, which will simplify application deployment
within and between the clouds.

As always, it is a basic install with only the services
for SSH and DNS preinstalled. It is available for servers
dedicated 32-bit and 64-bit, both for ordering and reinstallation.
Then it will most likely also be available in VPS with some
time.

The new Ubuntu is currently in BETA, do not hesitate to
send your comments here or on the forum:
http://forum.ovh.com/showthread.php?p=516683

In the same time we remove the version 11.04 which will
be in "EOL" (End Of Life) by ten days.

Sincerely,
Felix
