Would you care to elaborate before I wipe the server and start over?

I fixed the hd boot problem, but still get no response to ping/ssh after boot. More details including journalctl log here.

I have a 1TB kimsufi server. I've tried to reinstall arch linux on /dev/sda1 without disturbing home partition on /dev/sda2. It seemed to go well, but after all there are a couple of problems.

1. I can use netboot to load the kernel, but after boot there is no response to ping or ssh. I have to reboot in rescue mode, then mount & chroot to look at the log with journalctl. But all looks fine in the journal, no idea what's wrong.

2. The hd boot doesn't work at all, not sure why because I copied the /boot folder exactly. I reboot in rescue mode again, and there is nothing new in the log so it didn't even get started.

Any suggestions?

You should virtualise, the likes of XenServer. Then you can do things like reinstall the OS without touching the other disks.
