shouldnt netmask be 255.255.255.255? and there should be a broadcast=******...

Hi,
I have added a failover ip to the configuration on my centos server but i am unable to ping it?
here is the config.
DEVICE=eth0:0
BOOTPROTO=static
IPADDR=*************
NETMASK=255.255.255.0
ONBOOT=yes
GATEWAY=37.187.72.254
My ip is where the stars are. Any ideas?
