Why is OVH restricting internal BW outgoing to 750Mbps?

yah i think ur ticket did it..bcz i think they had to reconfigure that entire switch the server was on not just one server so thanks a lot for that

You are indeed on 10gbit internal

Might have something to do with my incident ticket for that server (it was previously limited to 1.5gig max internal + external, maybe it caught you too?)

I do feel for you mate if you have ordered that server expecting to be able to push 10G OVH to OVH using one server. I hope I am wrong and it is a mistake.

and then for anything above mHG

No, you read that table wrong. Outgoing is defined as OVH -> Internet
OVH <-> OVH says it should be 10Gbps

Can you run these tests against these servers with ONLY this command as I don't care about your download speeds (they are not subject to limitation)

iperf -c 188.165.13.226

iperf -c 37.187.68.31

And paste the results, it should only be one single line showing your outbound.

Both servers are linked at 10gbit, both are HG, and both have true 10gbit internal if you want to do more testing.

If over the course of several hours it stays around the 750mbit range, open an incident ticket.

(you can also run iperf -c SERVERIP -t TIMEINSECONDS -i 1)

This will give you a longer duration with interval reporting each second, for example:

[ ID] Interval Transfer Bandwidth
[ 3] 0.0- 1.0 sec 646 MBytes 5.42 Gbits/sec
[ 3] 1.0- 2.0 sec 654 MBytes 5.49 Gbits/sec
[ 3] 2.0- 3.0 sec 655 MBytes 5.50 Gbits/sec
[ 3] 3.0- 4.0 sec 656 MBytes 5.50 Gbits/sec
[ 3] 4.0- 5.0 sec 654 MBytes 5.48 Gbits/sec

this is running iperf -c NEW SERVER IP -d
[ ID] Interval Transfer Bandwidth
[ 3] 0.0-10.0 sec 5.98 GBytes 5.13 Gbits/sec

this is running iperf -c OLD SERVER IP -d

[ ID] Interval Transfer Bandwidth
[ 5] 0.0-10.0 sec 1.77 GBytes 1.52 Gbits/sec
[ 4] 0.0-10.0 sec 3.48 GBytes 2.99 Gbits/sec

Although it is slwoer than 5.3 but what i have seen today is that the new server can push now more than 750Mbps not alwasy like the older server but can push it..

500.0MiB 476.8 Mbytes/2.90(s)/172,354.36Kbps
[i] transferred 1 file(s) - Total: 476.8 M byte(s) in 2.90 (172,354.36 KBps)

^^ that is from my new server to older server ^

Install iperf:

Code:
apt-get install iperf
On one OVH server, you start iperf with:

Code:
iperf -s
And on another OVH server, you run iperf with:

Code:
iperf -c -d
This will test the speed in both directions.

It is indeed a mis-configuration on their end.

Lodge a ticket.

I may be incorrect, but that was the way I read it.
Currently have a ticket in for a HG capped at 1.5gig internal.

My other HG is still 10gig internal.

They didn't instantly tell me its intended - and are indeed running tests right now.

Lodge a ticket.

So turns out ovh is no longer the better deal..may be on sp servers but thats it..

I have tested to various 10G servers both the old ones on SATA3 and the new ones on SAS..the outgoing to these 10g servers is no more than 750Mbps? Why is that on an internal network? I do understand that max outgoing per server is said to be 750Mbps but then why say that OVH/OVH is 10Gbps when it is not anymore?

All you have now is Internet -> ovh at 10Gbps and rest at 750Mbps..so these plans are actually worse than the olders one..my older 10Gbps server can max out its 10Gbps port on multi threads..to other ovh servers but not the new ones.

Who freaking needs a server to download at 10Gbps? at 152 euros I can get better plans from Leaseweb for 1Gbps since all i am paying is for 750Mbps rofl
