I was fortunate in that my KS-16G (Raid model) came with a Xeon too on the Asus P8H77-M board (CPU-Z doesn't report it as a PRO model board)

W3520 was launched at the beginning of 2009 while 3-1245V2 is relatively new, released last summer. Both have 4 cores and 8 threads.
They both have about the same price tag, but E3 1245v2 is much better and faster.

www.cpubenchmark.net scores:
8,984 Intel Xeon E3-1245 V2 @ 3.40GHz
4,943 Intel Xeon W3520 @ 2.67GHz

"mSP" and "mSP SSD" have new but "SP BestOf" has older version... why is that, any plans to change this?

Only when they exhaust stock or aren't able to source an older part (or it becomes cheaper to get a newer part) will you see any change...IMHO.

Thanks for the headsup guys, I have just checked my mSP and it has the Intel Xeon E3-1245 V2 (I expect all mSPs do unless someone can tell us different) and agree the SP Best of is disappointing with that CPU when you check the comparison link Tz posted (great link Tz).

Made me look at my mSP hardware and CPU information with CPU-Z.

In case anyone is interested mine came with this motherboard.

Asus P8H77-M Pro

Great motherboard.

Very happy with the mSP.

I was considering SP BestOf because of hardware RAID, but seeing that processor is about 40% slower, it's a no go

When we look yearly power consumption then there is a big difference, 113 $/year vs. 67 $/year. Newer processor would save a lot for OVH.
