Anyone found a way of setting reverse DNS for the other addresses in the /64? - the Kimsufi panel only allows setting of the ::1/128.

Thanks,

Ian

To be fair, that is actually a really good idea. I currently have a tunnel for my home network with them. Here, using ESXi with a CSR as my NAT edge is really not working with the /56 /64 weirdness that exists.

Think I'll just fire up a second he tunnel. Good work!

To be fair, I've found the funky setups with /56, /64 and now /128 have always been a reason for a bald patch... Got so fed up with it at one point, I just grabbed a /48 block from Hurricane Electric and used that to route IPv6 to the VMs over the cluster. All I needed was radvd, and I was done.

I don't think it is caution with the IPv6, I think it is purely to encourage people "up".

There is also a post here somewhere saying something about the routers, and simplifying the setup for the 2013 KS's.

Still, I agree with the rest here, really more IPv6 per KS should not make a difference...

There are enough IPv6 addresses for each know star to have a whole IPv4 size address allocation so we really shouldn't be rationing them yet. The main reason is that Oles doesn't want people hosting VMs on them anymore, despite people not using them as 'personal servers' for years and years. I mean why should they, the support was the same for them (in practise - now none at all really) and they are dirt cheap.

I don't think there is really any need for caution at this stage, IPv4 addresses are available to buy and there are only around 3,706,452,992 public available.

I wouldn't expect rationing on the 340,282,366,920,938,463,463,374,607,431,768,211,45 6 possible public IPv6 addresses for at least a good few more decades or until they clear the back log of KS2G servers which will probably about the same time XD

Hell I'd be happy with a /112.

I think OVH are now paranoid with regards to IP addressing, there shouldnt be any issues with depletion of IPv6 addresses as you say, I just think juding by recent changes they have had issues with IPv4. they are now being overly cautious!

Come on OVH give Kimsufi server at least a couple more IPv6 addresses

What's that? Did you hear something? I certainly heard nothing...

Don't shout too loud, someone else here had a /64 for a while, which when they asked was reduced to a single address eekk!

Yes - the 2013 servers only have a single IP in both IPv4 and IPv6.

No - you cannot transfer your old IP's to the new KS2013, you would indeed need at least an mSP for thst.

Another IPv6 question.

In my control panel, for my new KS 16G (I have a 2001 KS16G too), OVH is showing me that I only have a /128, however the Proxmox (and other) server configurations are automatically setting up a /64.

I have been using several of these /64 addresses with absolutely no issues for the past few days, with the same gateway as the /128.

Do we still have a /64 block with the new servers, or is the /128 in the Control Panel correct?

Is there any way of using any of my /64 addresses from my other KS server or when I return this will I lose that block too? If I had know I was only going to have one IPv6 address I would have rethought taking the 16G and gone for the mSP..
