Do you have the 512 user 10 virtual server license?

Yes i do, and i may have a backup some place but i forgot about that and just transferred the licence and the tdns.ini.

How ever that being said after reading your post i have now made a backup copy and now have that on a USB Pen drive for safe keeping.

Thanks.

you you not got the old server running still so that you can make a backup which will include the channels etc?

Do you have the 512 user 10 virtual server license?

Already sorted i had pre packed the server + licence and its up and running as it should be, just have to spend some time recreate all the channels now thats a bigger pain than getting the damn OS running.

Oh and it restarts if the server is restarted. :_)

Shadows i'm the same as you with regards to learning how to use Ubuntu. As Phixion says its really powerful when you start to learn what it can do.

I have also loaded a couple of teamspeak servers on mine and I found it easier doing it through putty with just commands rather than trying to do it through the desktop.

Ubuntu is probably the most newbie friendly distro you could use.

It's entire philosophy is ease of use.

Thank you! Jasgriff.

Ubuntu is just like i have half a operating system its more disfuntional than functional..

So many default functions / programs are just not at hand as in fedora 17 :_(

for example you chant just install ts3 server (out of the box) & expect it to run via the .sh script. (nope you get some stupid error message)

I would have been better of with windows (trial)

The default x2go is ready to go.

I have ran it on a Virtual machine with only 512 Ram and am running it on a server with only 2gb of ram now and it works fine.

I'm working today but if you haven't got it going by tonight I can help you then.

I have NO idea as this is the first time with ubuntu, and as for x2go i am not liking it one bit, Keeps crashing on me slow and sluggish just a general pain in the ***.

Maybe its just because the server has 4gb memory and 1TB HDD but who knows its only until such time as i can get the mPS dedicated.

Compared with fedora this ubuntu is horrible even with gnome desktop, it feels like its missing so much.

And now i am on the way to installing Ubuntu 12.04 & x2go...

Just doing this stage....

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gnome-core gnome-session-fallback

x2go is reinstalled again and ready too go.

And waiting for this lot to install, will report back later with a further update if all is well or not...

I cant make a new connection, for some reason when i start x2go it just instantly pops up with the message.

I will purge all files related to x2go and reinstall once again.

EDIT

OK after purging every trace of x2go i am now able to make the custom connection, so i accept the new key and this is what happens next.

EDIT:

And now this error message.

I think i should just stop wasting more and more time and just in stall 12.04 and be done with this...

http://help.ovh.co.uk/x2goUbuntuDesktop

When you create a new connection change the session type to custom desktop and add "gnome-session --session=gnome-classic" in the command box.

Worked for me hopefully it will do the same for you.

Which version did you try? I recently installed Ubuntu 12.04 (LTS) with x2go for a friend and it worked fine.

12.04 is long term support btw, most people stick with that version on their servers.
