The SYS range

What's more, the RAM includes the ECC (Error Correcting Coding) technique, which corrects any risks detected to guarantee perfect hardware reliability
Aye, Right. You can detect and correct single bit errors. Detect but not correct some two bit errors.
After that, all bets are off.

Linux users will notice the logspam from corrected errors.
Windows users ... well I don't use windows.

ECC RAM does not
guarantee perfect hardware reliability
it does help.

Yes they do:

Does the SYS range have ECC ram??

Are we going to have to wait 3 weeks for it to show up on the UK site again?

Agreed... even if only for the dual 240GB SSDs it's a great move

I see you didn't say the SSD, however, unless you need the extra space then there is no reason to go non-SSD (Even price)

That is cheaper and has better support.

It's not just the number or cost of IPs that people have a problem with. It's the fact you can't fail over IPs from a Kimsufi, which is ridiculous.

The only upgrade paths are KS -> OVH, and SYS -> OVH.

If OVH want to make this three-tier system work, there should be a clear upgrade path: KS -> SYS -> OVH.

If I'm going to have to buy a new server and go through the hassle of setting up new IPs, changing DNS, SSLs, etc, then I might as well get an EX40 from Hetzner.

I think they buy the IP blocks on the open market now... so as you can imagine prices are being pushed up through supply and demand and this will go on forever until everyone can use IPv6. Maybe hoarding IP's could be the new Bitcoins :-)

"I used to struggle day to day, but back in 1990 I bought a whole class B block and then my company went bust. I held onto the IP's and I just sold them in 2017 for 17.2 million, I am shocked that ipv6 is still not fully usable everywhere"

+3 on the IP's

It really is farsical the way OVH deal with IP allocation, yes we know there is a shortage (IPv4), but other companies seem to handle IP allocation better than OVH, anyone would think we were asking for a slice of OVHs profits the way I sense fear around OVH when you ask "Please Oles may I have another IP Address"

Please Oles may we have some more!!

+1 on the IP's

Also, can we PLEASE have a sensible server in this range, something cheaper, slower, less threads, and about 8GB RAM... NO - I don't want a free-of-support server, just something basic, with at least email support.

As soon as you sort out the IPs, I might be interested...

The FAQ says all servers include ECC memory (both France and UK versions). Yet the server details pages do not mention ECC. Actually, only on the UK for the Atom offer does it mention ECC. Could this be clarified?

Internal bandwidth is still limited to 200mbps?

Can the load balancing IP be used for SYS servers?

Is it possible to get a SSD option with ECC ram?

Hello,

We have just set up the SYS range with the E3-1225v2/1245v2 servers with SoftRAID and HardRAID.
There is also the i7-9xx/W35xx platform with 48 GB RAM.

We have taken notice of the feedback on HardRAID cards and we have added 2 servers with LSI RAID-0/1/1E/10, with 2 x 2 TB and 2 x 120G SSD Intel S3500 disks.

We are also launching the 1st Intel Xeon with 32 GB RAM at less than €40/month, with 2 x 2 TB and 200 Mbps guaranteed bandwidth. The same server with 2 x 120 GB SSD costs €45/month.

The servers are available in 3 datacentres:
- GRA
- RBX
- SBG
We will be adding BHS next week.

The SYS ranges will continue to expand. We envisage an Avoton, 2 BI-CPU servers, as well as the FS-4T and FS-24T backup servers.
The Game range is also coming with overclocked servers at 4 GHz minimum per core. The tests are in progress.
The Game range will run on low latency routing using the pass-through L3/L2 packet forwarding. And of course, Anti-DDoS protection.

We will soon be offering an option to spread the cost of the setup fees on SYS:
- €49 setup fee
or
- +€10/month for 6 months, with no tie-ins

Customers that have taken E3-1245v2 32G 2 x 120G at €50/month will have their price adjusted to €40/month.

Regards,

Octave
