they have no fix for the size isu on the larger drives
but if the drives you order are no more then 2TB you should be ok
but getting them to aply your licence to your server can be a pain
I ended up putting one on VPS cause there site wouldn't add my licence

I bought a computer,
It cost a thousand pound;
But every time I switch it on
It keeps on falling down.

I used to think it was my friend
But now it drives me 'round the bend;
You’d be surprised the time I spend
Reinstalling Windows.

There is much mere

I have been emailing them since the first day
finally I got mad and emailed OVH.ie support and asked them to contact SYS support and get them doing something
now I am getting some response
there email this-morning asked me to put in sort of a ticket
it's now been 6 days and the response is pretty much (please ask again)

I realize a new site is going to have bugs
but on OVH.IE when I had problems installing and put in a ticket a tech would have it installed for me the next day
often a 32Bit copy of win 2008 and id asked for win1012 (which never made any sense to me)
but they would respond within 24 hours
took SYS 4 days and then they only responded AFTER I started bugging OVH.ie

anyway I suspect something will actually finally get done now

If you are trying to install Windows then it must be C - but try emailing or phoning support, you will get much quicker response.

amartin99,

It loosks like you are trying to create partition 1 when you already have a partition 1.
Get back to the screen in the screenshot and click the Delete button.

You have a C Drive listed. you can see the partition already created above.

the system has 24TB of space on it
anyway how much space I give windows is not the isu
the problem is it don't mater what settings I put in the thing just wont install

200GB is a bit excessive. I've never seen my C:\ drive exceed 50-60GB. but normally it stays around 35GB. It's your choice, it's just hard to change later so it's better to over-size it if you can afford to.

For a Windows installation I recommend a minimum of 50GB for C:\ otherwise you will quickly run out.

The screenshot shows you already have a C Drive with 10MBs, you would need to do this bigger more like 1GB.

I just tried sending you a PM with my logins so you could test for yourself but it seems your set to not get PMs
as was I till I changed that
seems to be a forum default

amartin99

yes that is it's default look before I make any changes
but soon as I put a 1 in front of the 0 I get this

Hi

If I look at http://prntscr.com/2k5f0z the size is 0MB, have you tried just adding a C Drive partition with 5GB or something similar.

another day past and NOTHING done

im starting to think about doing a charge back
but frankly I want no hard feelings with OVH
I DON"T want my money back
I just want what I paid for

amartin99
19-01-2014, 14:15
thing is there are 2 screens on the thing
making counter demands
first says I must second says I must not
no matter what I do it fails to install

I love OVH
been extremely pleased with them over the last year
but this order is turning out to be nothing but a rip off
I can't use the server and no one is responding to my emails

amartin99,

First screen says (First partition should be / or /boot)
Thats for us Linux users and its wrong anyway.
... second says it MUST be C
Thats for Windows users.

Some versions of Windows can only boot from a drive that uses an MSDOS partition table.
An MSDOS partition table can at most describe 2TiB of disc space.
The compromises available are, it you must use an MSDOS partition table you cannot use any disk space you have beyond 2TiB.
The other option is to use a GPT partition table, so you get to use all of the drive, and a version of Windows that understands GPT.

There might be a third option ... a hybrid MSDOS and GPT layout but I have no idea if Windows supports such a mess.
I gave up Windows in 2002, so I don't even get to fix family members Windows boxes any more

thought id try putting it on VPS and then install windows
well your system wont let me add any IP's to the server so that's not gona work

I would like to see some action here
iv paid a log ot money and have nothing cause your install template is messed up
id be happy with the normally default windows install
it's all I was expecting in the first place
but it wont install just complains the drive is to big

amartin99
17-01-2014, 18:21
if I change nothing and just go with the default I get this
http://prntscr.com/2k5eme

if I try to change it it looks like this (before I change anything)
http://prntscr.com/2k5f0z
C has no space at all
I try adding some and with the first key stroke it changes to this http://prntscr.com/2k5fiv

so tinkering around I have set it like this http://prntscr.com/2k5h5w
and got this http://prntscr.com/2k5haq

I have had 2 other people trying to do this for me and still no luck
im out of ideas

This is because of limitation in MBR.

Have you tried just doing a C Drive less than 2TB and it should install fine.

Hi

I suggest you just install Windows with default layout, then afterwards in the disk management section on Windows configure the hard drive setup you want.

hello
I first tried to add my windows key to your site but nothing happened
so I thought screw it your just asking 20EU ill buy one from you
that did work and it's all ready to install

but something is wrong with your installer
I got the big storage server with 6 4TB drives
and the default layout wont install it just complains http://prntscr.com/2jynse
and when I try to tinker with the layout I get this http://prntscr.com/2jyo4x
been trying for a long time and finally give up

the server is ns316384
I need windows on the first drive with 200GB of space
then the rest of the space and drives all in one massive second drive for max storage
but no raid
I wand the full 24TB usable but not striped so if a drive fails we only loose it's data not the hole thing
